Dragoș Ștefan Măntoiu is a geographer with interests in spatial ecology and environmental modelling using GIS environments. He currently studies as a PhD student in biology at the Institute of Speleology “Emil Racoviță” in Bucharest, focusing mainly on bat migration and ecology using a spatial approach, and works as an environmental consultant for EPC Consultanță de mediu on similar subjects, such as modelling of large carnivore permeability studies. His work also gravitated around a project financed by WWF Romania, that concerned the identification of wilderness areas in the South Western Carpathians using GIS.

He also enjoys field work that is usually based on mountain climbing, speleology, photography and videography of wild fauna.
