Wild Nephin

Conference presentations for Wilderness in a Modified European Landscape now available. The conference was held in Westport, County Mayo, on 14th May – 16th May 2013 during Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.  The aim was to bring together current and possible future approaches to rewilding modified landscapes, particularly on former plantation forest areas like the Nephin Forest, managed by Coillte. Details are given here. Mark Fisher of WRi delivered the opennng talk at the conference on “Wild or natural – the challenges Europe faces in setting aside wilderness.” Photographs from the conference field day can be seen on our Flickr pages and more information is on the Coillte web pages.
